The Rench Valley - a Paradise for Hikers

The Rench Valley is located between the Rhine Plain on one side and the Schwarzwaldhochstraße – a high altitude panorama road running from Baden-Baden to Freudenstadt – on the other. Its endless forests, idyllic valleys, and the hills of the Black Forest offer many possibilities for hiking, mountain biking, and paragliding, while its planer areas, surrounded by vines and orchards, are ideal for bicycle tours and walks. Known for good reason as the “Tuscany of Germany”, our region enjoys a mild and pleasant climate that is reflected also in the natural scenery.

The Rench Valley is a cultural region with many traditions and historic sights, such as the ruins of the Schauenburg castle, the pilgrimage church “Mariä Krönung”, the ruins of the monastery “Allerheiligen” with its waterfalls or the historic town centres of Oberkirch and Oppenau. Our region offers plenty of culture for everyone like theatre, concerts, cabarets, events, and fairs of all kind. Moreover, several artists and famous writers have their origin in the Rench Valley.

With its rural idyll and tranquillity the Rench Valley is a perfect holiday destination for families where you can spend time together, experience new things, and feel well. Our vineyards, farms, playgrounds, parks, and heated outdoor swimming pools guarantee a lot of fun for the whole family. The region is famous for its huge variety of culinary delights. First-class restaurants serve a mixture of specialties of the tradition-rich Baden cuisine and the related Alsatian cuisine. Nationwide rewarded wines as well as schnapps and liqueurs from over 1,100 distilleries are among the finest products of the region. Equal in terms of quality are the fresh products which come directly from the growers and which are, in some cases, sold by one of the largest fruit producers’ cooperative of Germany.

Another positive feature of the region is its favourable geographical location which gives you the possibility to go on trips to the Black Forest or the nearby Alsace.
